Acting General Counsel

Irvin Tyan serves as Acting General Counsel to THREAD through Incugal, the virtual outside‑general‑counsel firm he founded to support technology companies from seed through acquisition. He brings more than 20 years of experience advising technology startups and high‑growth businesses across technology transactions, intellectual property, compliance, employment and corporate matters, with prior roles at Quinn Emanuel, Farella Braun + Martel, and acting General Counsel for multiple venture‑backed companies. 

Irvin has been recognized nationally as an innovative legal leader, and has been a speaker, moderator or judge at numerous legal conferences, events and law schools. He also sits on the board of advisors of multiple technology start-ups. 

Irvin holds dual Bachelor degrees from Stanford University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
